Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ariel Hodge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fabien Duprus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ariel Hodge!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Fabien Duprus!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Ryoma Takatsuka and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duprus tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Duprus closes the distance and pushes Hodge back into the cage.

Duprus breaks the clinch.
Duprus checks the leg kick nicely there.
Duprus misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Hodge closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Duprus's guard.
Duprus can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hodge controls the pace.
Duprus is looking to stand up but Hodge isn't so interested in that idea.
Duprus is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hodge with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Hodge is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Duprus is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Duprus has escaped and now he's on top!


Hodge has his feet on Duprus's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Hodge is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Duprus's half guard.

Hodge seems to be looking for submissions.

Hodge is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Duprus is defending against the submission attempts here by Hodge.
Duprus tries to roll over but Hodge keeps him under control.

Duprus wants to get back to his feet.

Hodge slows the pace down in half guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Duprus trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Hodge manages to pass to mount!

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Hodge feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Duprus wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Hodge manages to pass to side control.

Hodge is looking for a kimura but Duprus is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hodge to get the leverage.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Hodge decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Hodge.

Hodge tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hodge has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Hodge content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Hodge seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Duprus for as long as he can get away with.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hodge's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Hodge is working Duprus over with some ground and pound from side control.
Hodge will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Hodge moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Duprus is looking to get back to his feet here but Hodge is keeping cool and he's managed to take Duprus's back.
Duprus is trying to stand back up.

Hodge is looking for the choke from the back position but Duprus is controlling his hands well.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hodge has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Duprus's body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Hodge tries to keep at a distance but Duprus has taken the fight into the clinch.
Duprus gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Hodge.
A frustrated look appears on Hodge's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Duprus lands a left hand.
Hodge is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Duprus can do to turn this around?

Duprus's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Hodge escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Duprus has managed to clinch.
Hodge's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Hodge goes for a takedown in the clinch but Duprus prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ariel Hodge. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Duprus pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Duprus swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Hodge counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Duprus breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Duprus misses with an elbow strike.

Duprus successfully pulls guard.
Hodge is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Hodge drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hodge jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Duprus has momentary wrist control but Hodge slips an elbow through the middle.
Hodge seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Hodge stands up over Duprus, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Hodge stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Hodge looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Duprus takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Duprus tries to get to full guard but Hodge has control of the leg.
Duprus wants to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Hodge is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Duprus rushes Hodge and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Fabien Duprus has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Ariel Hodge is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Duprus lands a nice elbow from the clinch.

I think Hodge has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
