Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 8 - 2, fighting out of Los Angeles, Christian Derksen!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rupert Whiston!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whiston lands with a good body shot.
Whiston's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Whiston duly obliges.
Whiston misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Derksen.
As Whiston tries to get set, Derksen tries to push him back and clinch up but Whiston manages to avoid the attempt.
Derksen on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Derksen ducks under a wild hook from Whiston.

Derksen clinches with his opponent.
Derksen tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Whiston's elbow.
Derksen throws a knee to the head but misses.

Whiston gets control of Derksen's arms and successfully pulls guard. Whiston will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Derksen lands a couple of elbows.
Whiston is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Whiston tries to pull guard but Derksen forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Derksen just misses with a elbow thrown towards Whiston's brow.
Derksen lands a nice uppercut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Whiston is trying to push Derksen away but Derksen has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Whiston tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Derksen smiles and moves away.
Whiston throws a body punch but Derksen moves out of range.
Derksen tries to close the distance and clinch but Whiston swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Whiston raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Derksen tries to close the distance and clinch up but Whiston swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Whiston looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Whiston avoids a kick to the body.
No joy there for Whiston, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Whiston jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Whiston throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Derksen thinks about countering with a body kick.
Derksen scoring well with a low kick there.
A jab from Whiston misses.
A jab lands there for Derksen.
Whiston throws a right and a left that Derksen avoids nicely.

Derksen fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Whiston stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Derksen.
Derksen throws a nice inside leg kick.
Derksen takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Derksen uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Whiston.
Whiston looks to throw the jab but Derksen is out of range.
Whiston misses with a left hand
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Whiston tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Derksen was well out of range. Poor timing from Whiston.
Derksen is looking for a counter combo.
Derksen throws a body punch but Whiston moves out of range.
Whiston throws a right and a left that Derksen avoids nicely.

Derksen instigates a clinch.
Derksen lands a nice elbow.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Derksen.
A short right from Derksen.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Derksen lands a body shot.
A short body shot lands from Derksen as the two fighters clinch.
Whiston looks winded!
Derksen comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Derksen creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Whiston takes a shot to the head.

Derksen working some nice short punches in the clinch.


Whiston is rocked!
Whiston takes an elbow to the forehead.
Whiston is still on wobbly legs! Can Derksen finish him?


That has opened up Rupert Whiston's cut even more.
Derksen unloads with a big right hand that wobbles Whiston! He's leaning against the cage trying to keep his feet but Derksen is unloading with more strikes now! Whiston drops to his knees and the referee stops the fight for a TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Christian Derksen!
