Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ned Nedeltsev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gil Handerson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gil Handerson has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Ned Nedeltsev's chin.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Gil Handerson!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Franklyn Lucas and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nedeltsev closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Nedeltsev has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Handerson uses from the top position.

Handerson clinches up against the cage.
Handerson is trying to maintain a safe position but Nedeltsev gets an underhook and turns Handerson into the cage.
Nedeltsev is trying to drag Handerson to the mat but Handerson just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
We've been informed that Handerson has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

Nedeltsev is looking for a kimura but Handerson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Nedeltsev to get the leverage.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Handerson is fighting off a takedown attempt but Nedeltsev is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Handerson to the mat. Handerson regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Nedeltsev has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Handerson wants to sweep but no luck.
Nedeltsev not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Nedeltsev is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Handerson is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Handerson has escaped and now he's on top!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Handerson stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Nedeltsev has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Handerson regains guard immediately.

Handerson has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Nedeltsev off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Handerson moves out of range of the strikes.
Handerson walks into a jab.
Nedeltsev takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Handerson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Nedeltsev changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
