Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bud Lynn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shaun Timbers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bud Lynn has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bud Lynn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Shaun Timbers!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Anni Minnemäki and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Timbers lands a nice looking body kick.

Timbers shoots in and gets a takedown into Lynn's guard.
Lynn is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Timbers trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Timbers wants to control from the top but Lynn keeps moving.
Lynn is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Ground and pound from Lynn.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lynn passes into side control, despite Timbers's attempt to control the position.

Lynn decides to stand back up. Lynn steps back and let's Timbers get back to his feet.
Timbers fails with a takedown attempt.

Timbers drives through and clinches with Lynn against the cage.

Lynn ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Lynn no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Timbers trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Timbers wants to get up but he can't break Lynn's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Timbers is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Timbers is looking to work some ground and pound but Lynn has wrist control.

Lynn wants to stand but Timbers is controlling the position.
Timbers is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Timbers wants to pass the guard but Lynn is keeping the position.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Timbers jumps guard and drags Lynn to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Timbers wants to get back to his feet but Lynn is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Timbers keeping moving, preventing Lynn from controlling successfully.
Lynn would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Timbers has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Lynn is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Timbers.
Lynn will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Lynn has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Timbers throws a sloppy head kick

and Lynn moves into the clinch.
Timbers looks winded!

Lynn jumps into guard, dragging Timbers to the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Bud Lynn will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Lynn misses with a takedown attempt - Timbers sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Lynn wants to clinch
and Timbers counters with a one-two to the body.
Lynn uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Timbers.
Shaun Timbers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Timbers rushes Lynn and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Timbers's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Timbers goes for a double leg but Lynn avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Lynn continues to drive forward.

Lynn tries for a takedown but Timbers manages to get underhooks.
Timbers has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Lynn gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Timbers manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Timbers throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.

Lynn tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Timbers manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Lynn really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Lynn has his hands clasped together around Timbers's back. He's all about the action.
Lynn is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Timbers looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Lynn pulls Timbers in to control the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lynn keeping moving, preventing Timbers from controlling successfully.
Timbers wants to stand but Lynn is controlling his posture from full guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Lynn has his hands on Timbers's head, controlling the position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Lynn is trying to drag Timbers to the mat but Timbers just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Shaun Timbers showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Timbers is fighting off a takedown attempt but Lynn is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Timbers to the mat. Timbers regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Timbers is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Lynn defends well.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Timbers can do anything to dispel that myth.

Lynn tries to score a body lock takedown but Timbers shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Lynn manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Timbers keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Lynn defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Timbers.

Timbers has closed the distance and engaged Lynn in a clinch.

Lynn gets control of Timbers's arms and successfully pulls guard. Lynn will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Timbers wants to pass the guard but Lynn is keeping the position.
Lynn is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Lynn continues to stall.
Lynn wants to sweep but no luck.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Lynn controls Timbers momentarily but Timbers frees himself.
Timbers wants to pass the guard but Lynn is keeping the position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Timbers looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Lynn is fending him off so far but Timbers persists. Nope, Lynn circles away and we're back to standing.
Lynn misses with a kick to the body.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Horrible takedown attempt by Timbers or perhaps it was just good defense by Lynn, which made it look bad.

Lynn dives in and scores a takedown into Timbers's guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Bud Lynn showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Lynn has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
