PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Scott Robinson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Crowd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jack Crowd will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Scott Robinson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jack Crowd!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Reed Andrews and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Crowd closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Robinson's guard.
Crowd is looking to stand up but Robinson won't let him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Crowd stopping the sweep attempt from Robinson.
Crowd controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Robinson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Crowd trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Crowd showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Crowd works a leg free and moves into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Crowd stands up and beckons Robinson to join him on the feet.

Crowd pushes Robinson up against the cage in a clinch.
Crowd is trying to pull guard but Robinson has him pressed against the cage.
Robinson has Crowd pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Crowd manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Crowd breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Robinson gets tackled into the cage by Crowd. Crowd maintains the clinch.
Crowd can't get the takedown.
Crowd is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Robinson pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Robinson jumps guard but Crowd stands there with Robinson around his waist. Robinson gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Crowd gets underhooks to prevent Robinson's takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Scott Robinson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Crowd's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Crowd instigates a clinch.
Crowd drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Crowd blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Robinson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Crowd has managed to clinch.
Crowd lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Crowd drops down looking for an ankle pick but Robinson pulls his leg out and moves away.
Crowd jabs at Robinson's body.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nice sprawl there from Robinson as Crowd shoots in.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Crowd.
Robinson throws a nice head kick!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Robinson enables Crowd to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Robinson manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Crowd trying to control the position from guard on top but Robinson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Robinson controls Crowd momentarily but Crowd frees himself.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Crowd slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Crowd is in close to Robinson's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Robinson is controlling Crowd's posture.
Crowd controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Crowd postures up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Crowd shoots in for a takedown but Robinson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Crowd shoots in but Robinson avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Crowd instigates a clinch.
Robinson fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Robinson is trying to pull guard but Crowd turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Robinson blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Robinson is trying to drag Crowd to the mat but Crowd just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Scott Robinson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Crowd gets control of Robinson's arms and successfully pulls guard. Crowd will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Crowd preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Crowd wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Robinson is now in half guard.

Robinson is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Crowd makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Crowd.
Robinson throwing strikes but missing.

Crowd working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Robinson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Robinson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Crowd manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Robinson manages to get himself to full guard.

Robinson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Crowd loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Crowd controls from within his opponent's guard.
Crowd stopping the sweep attempt from Robinson.
Robinson wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Crowd is now in half guard.

Still in half guard, Crowd seems content to control.

Robinson is staying active underneath Crowd, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Crowd landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Crowd missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Crowd tries to pass the half guard into mount. Robinson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Crowd is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Robinson gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Crowd wants to stall.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Crowd showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Robinson takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Crowd has his takedown stuffed
and Robinson counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Robinson throws a wild hook but Crowd just manages to duck under it and - ooooh! Robinson gets nailed by a brutal uppercut which crumples him back against the cage! The referee jumps in - Crowd raises his hands in celebration and walks away!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:30 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jack Crowd!
