Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hubert Patterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cain Velasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cain Velasquez has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Hubert Patterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Cain Velasquez!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, James Glass and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Patterson tries to keep at a distance but Velasquez has taken the fight into the clinch.

Velasquez gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Patterson regains guard.
Velasquez's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Velasquez throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Patterson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Patterson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Velasquez gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Velasquez is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Velasquez stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Velasquez goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Velasquez misses with a body kick.

Velasquez moves into the clinch successfully.
Velasquez is trying to force a seperation but Patterson has the dominant position.
Patterson stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Velasquez wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Velasquez pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Come on Patterson - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Velasquez jumps into guard, dragging Patterson to the mat.
Velasquez is trying to keep Patterson in close.

Velasquez wants to improve his position but instead Patterson has moved into half guard.

Patterson seems to be looking for submissions.

Velasquez has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Patterson is on him like a limpet, forcing Velasquez back against the cage.

Velasquez has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Patterson clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Patterson is looking to stand back up. He's having to work hard to escape but eventually he manages it.

Velasquez closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Velasquez throws a low kick but Patterson avoids it.
Patterson darts in looking for a takedown but Velasquez gets double underhooks and turns Patterson into the cage.

Velasquez closes the distance and clinches.

Velasquez fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Velasquez has Patterson pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Velasquez pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Patterson tumbling to the mat - Velasquez dives into Patterson's guard.
Velasquez throws an elbow that misses. Patterson uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Velasquez's guard. Nice move by Patterson!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Velasquez holds on and takes a little breather.
Patterson would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Patterson gets to his feet - Velasquez follows without any prompting.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Cain Velasquez will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Velasquez closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Patterson to the mat! Patterson manages to get full guard.
Patterson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Velasquez is looking for a sweep. Patterson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Patterson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Velasquez is trying to control but can't.
Patterson working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Patterson stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Velasquez to get to his feet.

Velasquez connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Patterson momentarily.
Patterson has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Patterson there as he acknowledges the shot.
Patterson scores with a sloppy right hand. Velasquez should have avoided that one.


It looks like Cain Velasquez has been cut.
Velasquez is breathing heavily.

Velasquez is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Patterson's half guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Patterson is on top in guard.

Patterson gets to his feet. Velasquez looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Patterson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

A close second round but Cain Velasquez will probably get the nod - 10:9.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Patterson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Velasquez is working away from the top position though.

I would just about give that final round to Cain Velasquez.
I've got Velasquez winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
