The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dave throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Dave cracks a nice hook into Malainen's ribs.
Malainen uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Dave.
Dave throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Dave swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Malainen throws a lazy right hand but Dave sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dave tries to move into range but Malainen moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

We've been hearing reports that Dave has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Pudding Dave seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

And an attempted straight right on the counter from Malainen! But no joy.
Malainen might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Malainen looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Malainen is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Dave had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

Dave bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Malainen is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Dave.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Herikii Malainen dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Malainen is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Dave dives into side control.

Dave tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Dave has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Dave in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Malainen is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
