The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fakuda darts in and clinches Meyer up against the cage.
Meyer has had enough of the clinch but Fakuda keeps him there for the moment.

Meyer is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Fakuda can't fight it off and eventually Meyer manages to take the fight to the floor. Fakuda looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Fakuda seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fakuda throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Meyer's waist but Meyer gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Fakuda off to one side.

Meyer closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
