Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Olly The Sock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luciano Maciel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Bart Greer and Winston Alpacca.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The Sock shoots in looking for a takedown. Maciel tries to sprawl out of it but The Sock keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Maciel manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Maciel connects with a jab.
We've been told by The Sock's head coaches at Cozad The Island that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

The Sock uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Maciel.
The Sock changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Maciel has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The Sock attempts a counter takedown but Maciel avoids it well and moves away.
The Sock tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Maciel defends well and The Sock ends up having to push Maciel into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Despite the aggression on Maciel's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Olly The Sock. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The Sock escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Maciel gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Maciel wants to control the pace but The Sock is squirming around nicely.

Maciel is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Maciel passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for The Sock!

The Sock knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Maciel on the ground.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The Sock tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Maciel throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for The Sock because Maciel loaded up on that one.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The Sock is working to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Luciano Maciel dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Maciel is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The Sock stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Maciel swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The Sock paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use! He's tapped! WOW, quick submission from Maciel - great work!
