PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andy Bangsit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stannis Baratheon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Andy Bangsit!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Stannis Baratheon!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Igor Prikhodko and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Left hook, right uppercut from Baratheon.


It looks like Andy Bangsit has been cut.
Baratheon dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Baratheon throws a right and a left that both miss.
Baratheon throws a one two combo.


Bangsit is rocked!
Baratheon lands a slapping body shot.
Bangsit fails with a takedown attempt.
As Bangsit backs off Baratheon throws a huge counter combo but Bangsit manages to avoid it all.
Bangsit shoots for a double leg takedown but Baratheon sprawls well. He's pushed Bangsit's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Baratheon tries to bum rush Bangsit with a series of wild strikes but Bangsit uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
We've been hearing reports that Bangsit has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Baratheon fails to land with a series of punches.
Bangsit appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Bangsit throws a leg kick
and Baratheon counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Bangsit takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Oh Bangsit is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Baratheon throws a right and a left that both miss.
Bangsit seems to have got his legs back now.
Baratheon missing with a left hand there. Bangsit was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Bangsit shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Bangsit showed some decent athleticism there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bangsit is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Baratheon sees it coming and defends easily.
The fighters are battling for position here. Baratheon manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Bangsit passes Baratheon's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Baratheon is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Bangsit pulls his head out easily.
Baratheon is looking to control Bangsit's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Baratheon avoid being mounted?

Bangsit is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Baratheon doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Bangsit.
Baratheon really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bangsit. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Bangsit wants to work for an arm triangle but Baratheon is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Bangsit looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Bangsit is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Bangsit sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Bangsit looking to secure an arm triangle but Baratheon defends it well.

Bangsit looking for a guillotine from mount but Baratheon is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Baratheon is desperately trying to improve his position but Bangsit has a good base and remains in mount.
Baratheon keeps trying to improve his position.

Bangsit is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Baratheon has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Baratheon wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Bangsit.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
Baratheon is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Bangsit working for a guillotine from mount but Baratheon is in no mood to give up.
Baratheon is looking to improve his position but Bangsit isn't that keen on the idea.

Bangsit has hold of Baratheon's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Baratheon manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Stannis Baratheon will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Andy Bangsit's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Baratheon stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Baratheon wants it to stay on the feet.
Baratheon tries to bum rush Bangsit with a series of wild strikes but Bangsit uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

and Bangsit counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Bangsit thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bangsit pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Baratheon is keeping the position for now.
Andy Bangsit overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Baratheon is trying to control the position but Bangsit postures up.

Bangsit drops back looking for a leg! Baratheon is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Baratheon manages to kick Bangsit off! Bangsit jumps back into Baratheon's guard.

Baratheon working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bangsit doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bangsit manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Bangsit is looking to work some ground and pound but Baratheon has wrist control.

Bangsit advances to half guard.
Bangsit thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Bangsit is working for a kimura but Baratheon is defending it quite comfortably.
Baratheon tries to get to full guard but Bangsit has control of the leg.

Baratheon looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Baratheon felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Bangsit maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Baratheon could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Bangsit has cracked it and Baratheon is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Bangsit!
