PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gerry Kelly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aldo Vurny (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kelly comes to the cage accompanied by Alternative Ulster - SLF. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

With a record of 12 - 2 - 1, fighting out of New York, Gerry Kelly!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Aldo Vurny!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Jonathan Paton and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Kelly, as that shot connected.
Kelly stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kelly wants it to stay on the feet.
Kelly lands a leg kick that knocks Vurny off balance momentarily.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Kelly, right into the meat.
Vurny on the wrong end of a nice jab.

Vurny shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Vurny was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Kelly is trying to get back to his feet.
Kelly is not content to let Vurny control the position.
Vurny is working Kelly over with some ground and pound from side control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kelly accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Vurny is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Vurny seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Vurny throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Vurny looks for a takedown but Kelly sprawls well.
Vurny ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Vurny tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Kelly tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Vurny paws at him with a jab and circles away.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

And Vurny tries to counter it with a takedown but Kelly pushes his down on his head and steps out.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

We've been hearing good reports from Kelly's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kelly, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
