PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Taylor Velasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jako Day (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jako Day was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Taylor Velasquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jako Day!
The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Hugh Johnson and Topper Green.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Day closes the distance and clinches.
Velasquez with an attempt at a knee that misses.

Day throws a right and a left that Velasquez avoids nicely.

A little feinted left hand from Velasquez on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
The crowd cheers as Day lands an impressive looking overhand right. Velasquez doesn't seem phased though.
Day lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Velasquez circles away quickly and effectively.

As Day looks to move away, Velasquez throws a big counter combo but Day just gets out of the way.
Day tries to bum rush Velasquez with a series of wild strikes but Velasquez uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

and Velasquez counters with a good, hard body kick but Day shrugs it off.
Day is breathing heavily.

Day rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Velasquez moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Day breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Day connects with a good right hand that stumbles Velasquez. Velasquez circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Day misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Day waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Velasquez.
Taylor Velasquez is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Day lands with a nice combination. Velasquez backs away looking to recover.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Velasquez is pushing Day up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Jako Day showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Velasquez tries to land a front kick but Day steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Day throws out a counter right but Velasquez avoids it with no problem.
Day bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Velasquez's head backwards.

It looked like Velasquez wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Velasquez looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Velasquez takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Day gets control of Velasquez's arms and successfully pulls guard. Day will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Day is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Velasquez is controlling him.

Jako Day is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Velasquez is standing up over Day. Day looks to escape but Velasquez dives into side control.

I've got Day winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
