The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King catches Petrucci with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
King pivots, looking for a leg kick but Petrucci is out of range and King settles back down.
King throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Petrucci shoots in looking for a takedown. King tries to sprawl out of it but Petrucci keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. King manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Petrucci lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
King takes a swing at Petrucci's ribcage but misses.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Petrucci is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! King had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

That was a close round but I would say that Combo King will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Petrucci is looking for a kimura but King is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Petrucci to get the leverage.
King pushes Petrucci off looking to stand but Petrucci dives back in and keeps control.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Combo King.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for King, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
