Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between John Fadden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Javier Pena (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Fadden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 28 - 0, fighting out of New York, Javier Pena!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Bruno Lombardi and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pena misses with a low kick.
Fadden throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Fadden is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Fadden throws a low kick but it's checked well by Pena.
Pena misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Fadden closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Pena's guard.
Fadden is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Fadden prevents Pena from getting back to his feet.

Pena is trying to break the clinch but Fadden has him pressed against the cage.
Fadden tries to throw a body punch but Pena avoids it by throwing Fadden back against the cage.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Fadden doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Pena is trying to force a seperation but Fadden has the dominant position.
Pena wants to break the clinch but can't.

Fadden pulls guard effortlessly.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Pena decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Pena avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Fadden tries to clinch up.
Fadden moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Fadden dominated that round.
That's time! Fadden's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Pena gets tackled into the cage by Fadden. Fadden maintains the clinch.
Fadden keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Pena's efforts to push away.
Pena tries to break free but Fadden pushes him back against the cage.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pena has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Fadden tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Pena smiles and moves away.
Pena misses with a lunging right hand
and Fadden connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Fadden shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Pena manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Fadden not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Fadden engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Fadden might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Pena wants to stand up but Fadden is controlling him.
Pena keeping moving, preventing Fadden from controlling successfully.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Fadden stands and throws Pena's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fadden working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Pena prevents Fadden from improving position.
Fadden trying to control the position but Pena is working away.
Fadden is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Pena is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
John Fadden overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Pena wants to get back to his feet but Fadden drags him back down.
Fadden staying calm.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Fadden stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Fadden lands with a right hand.
A punch combination from Fadden misses.

Fadden scores with a takedown into Pena's guard.

Pena has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Fadden off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Javier Pena is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Fadden throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Fadden has been working on his balance at Heart Cave (10 elites, 3 double-elites, 1 triple), so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Pena.
Fadden tries to close the distance and clinch but Pena swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Pena swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Fadden pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Fadden closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Pena quickly recovers to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Fadden dominated that second round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Fadden takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Fadden throws a shot from downtown. Pena moves away and avoids it.
Pena misses with a head kick.
Fadden looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Pena doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Fadden moves away from the strike by Pena.
Fadden throws a left and a right that both miss
and Pena counters with a stiff right hand.
Pena connects with a leg kick. Fadden looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Fadden shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Pena but Pena pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Fadden keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Pena.
Fadden looks to land a combination but Pena avoids it well.
Pena throws a big counter head kick but Fadden avoids it with no problem.

Pena fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Fadden looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Fadden's corner calls for a 1-2. Fadden obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Pena throws a solid leg kick but Fadden takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Pena.
Decent striking displayed by Fadden there.
Pena tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Fadden was well out of range. Poor timing from Pena.
Fadden pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Fadden misses with a low kick.
Fadden wants to clinch up but Pena keeps it at a distance.
Fadden lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Fadden throws a half hearted mid kick.
Pena tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
John Fadden is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Fadden fails with an attempt to clinch.
Pena avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Fadden connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Fadden closes this distance looking for a takedown but Pena circles away.
Fadden cracks Pena with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Fadden uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Pena.
John Fadden is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Fadden shoots in for a takedown but Pena shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Pena appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Fadden. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fadden takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Pena has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Fadden finds it's way round the side to connect with Pena's head.
Pena throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
John Fadden seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pena displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Fadden throws out the jab.

Pena throws a hook to the side of Fadden's head but Fadden sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Pena takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Fadden tests Pena's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Pena takes one on the button.
Fadden throws a body kick that misses.
Fadden moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Pena fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Fadden manages to avoid it.
Pena slips a jab and a cross from Fadden.
Fadden tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Pena was well out of range. Poor timing from Fadden.
Javier Pena has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Pena misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Pena darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Fadden changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Pena tries to avoid it but Fadden manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Pena to the ground. Pena escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Fadden closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Fadden jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Pena lands with a kick to the temple. Fadden shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Pena takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Pena looks like he wants to counter punch here.

Fadden closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Pena did well to prevent Fadden getting side control.
Pena misses with some strikes from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fadden with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Pena is trying to stand up here but Fadden is controlling him well.
Fadden perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Nice defenses there by Fadden.
Pena throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Fadden looks to land a combination. Pena sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Fadden closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Pena to the mat! Pena manages to get full guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to John Fadden.
Well Fadden has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
