The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed right hand from Forcover misses the target.
Forcover lands a glancing blow to the side of Maverick's head.

Forcover closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Forcover throws a front kick aimed at Maverick's knee but Maverick avoids it well.

Maverick shoots in and bounces Forcover off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Maverick wants to control but Forcover postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We've been hearing good reports from Forcover's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Maverick throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Forcover was covering up waiting for the punch and Maverick finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Maverick shoots in for a takedown but Forcover shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Maverick shoots in looking for a takedown. Forcover tries to sprawl out of it but Maverick keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Forcover manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Maverick avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Forcover lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

and Maverick counters with a big head kick but Forcover shrugs it off.
Maverick changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Forcover tries to avoid it but Maverick manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Forcover to the ground. Forcover escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Run Forcover has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dan Maverick.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Maverick lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Maverick is looking for a kimura but Forcover is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Maverick to get the leverage.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Forcover, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
