The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kush throws a good cross that connects.
Kush misses with a body shot.
Some wild striking there from Kush.
Kush changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Stanley tries to avoid it but Kush manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Stanley to the ground. Stanley escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Stanley blocks a jab.
Kush wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Mike Stanley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Stanley moves into range and clinches up with Kush.
Stanley swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Stanley misses with a punch on the inside.
Stanley pushes Kush back against the ropes and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Kush scores with an uppercut up the middle.

I was talking to Kush's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Kush lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Stanley tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kush swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Kush counters with a left to the body.
Kush connects with an inside leg kick.
Kush looks for a takedown but Stanley sprawls well.
Kush attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Kush is looking to slow Stanley down with leg kicks.
Stanley looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
A looping hook to the body misses from Stanley. Kush does a little dance to reset his feet.
Kush dips to his left and cracks Stanley with an uppercut!
Stanley tries to close the distance and clinch but Kush swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Stanley tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in to close the distance. Kush manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Kush swats away the attempt to clinch by Stanley.

Kush digs a right hand underneath Stanley's ribcage. Stanley let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Stanley misses with a short punch on the inside.

Kush presses Stanley against the ropes and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
A head punch on the inside from Stanley fails to land.
Stanley is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Stanley looks to clinch
and Stanley takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

It looks like Mike Stanley has been cut.
Stanley tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Kush paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Stanley stuffs the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bubba Kush. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kush lands a nice shot that snaps Stanley's head back.

Stanley drops his hands momentarily. Kush doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Stanley staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Stanley doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.
