Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jules Griffin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Psina!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griffin throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Griffin misses with a head kick.
Good shot there by Psina.

Psina clinches.
Psina lands a body punch.
Psina is trying to pull guard but Griffin turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Griffin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Griffin has Psina up against the cage in a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Psina breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Psina shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Griffin's guard.

Griffin scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Psina closes the distance and clinches.
Psina lands a right hand.
Psina tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Psina fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Jules Griffin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Psina.
Psina jumps guard but Griffin turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Griffin seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Psina clinches up with Griffin and pushes him back against the cage.

Griffin has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Psina is trying to keep an underhook but Griffin manages to get the takedown into half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Psina shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Griffin pinned against the cage. Griffin gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jules Griffin will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Griffin fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Psina sprawls well initially but Griffin persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Psina pushes Griffin off and gets back to his feet.
Psina shoots for a double leg takedown but Griffin sprawls well. He's pushed Psina's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Psina gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Psina manages to break the clinch.
Griffin takes a swing at Psina's ribcage but misses.
Psina fails to land the takedown.
Psina is breathing heavily.

Psina closes the distance and pushes Griffin back into the cage.
Psina dodges an elbow strike from Griffin.
Griffin is pressed up against the cage. Psina has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Griffin down to the mat. Griffin avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Jules Griffin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Psina.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
and Psina counters with a two punch combo.

Griffin closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Griffin breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Griffin fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Psina manages to avoid it.
Psina tries to counter with a clinch but Griffin shakes him off and moves away.

Griffin moves into the clinch.

Psina is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Griffin has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Psina clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Griffin has good solid back control here.
Griffin seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Psina for as long as he can get away with.
Psina takes a big shot to the side of the head.
Griffin just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Psina trying to get back to his feet but Griffin is in full control for now.
Griffin is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Psina wants to control his opponent's hands but Griffin gets his hands free.

Jules Griffin dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Psina shoots and misses

and Griffin holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Griffin jumps guard and drags Psina to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Psina shoots in for a double leg but Griffin sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Psina takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Psina darts in looking for a takedown but Griffin gets double underhooks and turns Psina into the cage.

Psina uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Griffin.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Griffin drags the fight down to the ground.
Psina prevents Griffin from getting back to his feet.

Griffin had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Psina defends it easily.
Psina looking to sit in guard and control but Griffin gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Jules Griffin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Griffin is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Griffin's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Psina not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Griffin controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Griffin continues to stall.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Psina looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jules Griffin showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Griffin, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
