Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gerald Minor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Strummer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Strummer's choice of entrance music: The Stranglers- Nice N' Sleazy. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gerald Minor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joe Strummer!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Stewart Dunkirk and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Strummer tries to clinch but Minor moves out of range.
Minor misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Nice takedown defense from Minor. No joy for Strummer on that attempt.
Strummer swings widly with a right hand

and Minor counters with a single leg into guard. Strummer didn't expect that.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Strummer controls Minor momentarily but Minor frees himself.
Minor working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Strummer tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Minor slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Minor tries to advance to mount but can't.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Strummer trying to remain calm as Minor controls from the top position.

Minor thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Strummer takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Minor lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Strummer is trying to get back to half guard.
Strummer regains half guard.
Minor thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Strummer is trying to get back to full guard.
Minor is looking to take a break and control but Strummer is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Strummer is holding on to half guard well.
Minor is stalling here. Strummer is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Minor seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Strummer has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Minor is trying to improve his position.

Strummer tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Strummer trying to control the position but Minor is working away.

Strummer is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Minor is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Strummer is working to tighten his grip on Minor's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Minor has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Strummer is really squeezing tight and eventually Minor passes out! Strummer breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Joe Strummer!
