PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Pegg Frost (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlo Alvarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Frost comes to the cage accompanied by enter sandman by metallica. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 34 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pegg Frost!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Carlo Alvarez!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Elvis Blanc and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Frost.
Alvarez doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
A looping hook to the body misses from Frost. Alvarez does a little dance to reset his feet.
The fighters circling - Alvarez throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Frost gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Nice uppercut lands for Alvarez. That snapped Frost's head back.
Frost plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Alvarez dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Frost. That did some damage!
Frost throws a head kick that misses
and Alvarez cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Alvarez shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Frost as he avoids it easily.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Alvarez.
Frost tries to bum rush Alvarez with a series of wild strikes but Alvarez uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Frost lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Alvarez at a distance.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Frost closes the distance looking to clinch
and Alvarez counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Frost throws a combination that misses

and Alvarez counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Frost won't allow Alvarez to pass to mount.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Alvarez trying to control the action but Frost is working from the bottom.
Alvarez slips a nice elbow through Frost's hands, connecting with Frost's forehead.
Frost desperately trying to maintain half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Frost wants to improve his position but Alvarez is controlling well.

Alvarez is trying to work for a kimura but Frost is defending well.
Alvarez trying to control from half guard but Frost is working away.
Alvarez is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Alvarez is looking to advance position but Frost won't allow it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Alvarez is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Frost defends it well.
Alvarez is looking to take a break and control but Frost is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Frost wants to improve his position but Alvarez is controlling well.
Alvarez slows the pace down in half guard.
Alvarez throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Frost has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Alvarez is working away from the top position though.
Alvarez is looking to advance position but Frost won't allow it.

Alvarez is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Frost is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Carlo Alvarez!
Carlo Alvarez decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
