Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Randall Mercer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arthur Teixeira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Paulo Santos and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Teixeira looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

and Teixeira counters with a thumping low kick.
Mercer fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Teixeira avoids it really well and circles away.
Teixeira is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Teixeira clinches up with Mercer and pushes him back against the cage.

Teixeira is trying to push Mercer away but Mercer has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Mercer is trying to break the clinch but Teixeira is controlling him.

Teixeira tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mercer swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Teixeira has had enough of the clinch but Mercer keeps him there for the moment.

Teixeira wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Teixeira is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Mercer can't fight it off and eventually Teixeira manages to take the fight to the floor. Mercer looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

and Mercer counters with a nice body shot.
Teixeira closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Mercer to the mat! Mercer manages to get full guard.
Mercer is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Teixeira decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Mercer, up you get!

Teixeira has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Let's hope that Teixeira has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Teixeira doesn't manage to clinch there - Mercer circles away.

Mercer gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Teixeira wants to get up but he can't break Mercer's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Teixeira stands and steps away. Mercer gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Nice takedown defense from Teixeira. No joy for Mercer on that attempt.

Well Teixeira has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
