PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jason Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommy Masters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jason Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tommy Masters!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Masters.
Jones is looking to counter with head kicks.
Jones connects with a right hand. Masters shakes it off.
Jones scores with a jab to the body.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Jones!
Jones scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!


Masters is rocked!
Some wild striking there from Jones.
Jones throws a left and a right that both miss

and Masters counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Masters postures up.
Jones avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Masters wanted to stand there but Jones had control of the position.

Jones working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Masters doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Masters manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Jones knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Masters on the ground.

Masters being controlled here momentarily.
Masters looking to pass the guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Masters is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Masters accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Masters closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Jones is trying to push Masters away but Masters has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Jones escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Masters throws a push kick but Jones slaps the foot to one side.
Jones punishes Masters's body with a nice straight punch.
Jones slips a jab and a cross from Masters.
Jones pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Masters looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Jones is looking to clinch but Masters is avoiding it.
Jones misses with a jab, cross combination.
And Masters responds with a good body kick, but Jones manages to step out the way in time.

Jones closes the distance and clinches.
Masters tries to pull guard but Jones holds him up against the cage and eventually Masters drops back down to his feet.

Jones pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Masters decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Jones pushes Masters off looking to stand but Masters dives back in and keeps control.
Masters looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Jones tries to roll over but Masters keeps him under control.
Jones tries to kick Masters off but Masters keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Jones trying to control here.
Masters thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Jones's head.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Jones goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Jones looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Jones is breathing heavily.
Masters ducks under a wild hook from Jones.
Masters dives in for a single leg takedown but Jones sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Jason Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tommy Masters.
Masters misses with a leg kick

and Jones holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Masters tries to score a body lock takedown but Jones shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Masters is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Jones wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Masters has him pressed against the cage.

Masters escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jason Jones dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Jones lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Masters circles away quickly and effectively.
Jason Jones is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Jones throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Masters is looking to clinch but Jones is avoiding it.
Jones fails with a takedown attempt.
Masters will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Masters on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Jones tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Masters tries for a takedown but Jones sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Masters doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Masters throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Masters tries to score a power double leg takedown but Jones sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Masters somewhat.
Jason Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tommy Masters.
Masters is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Masters avoids a punch combination nicely.
Masters takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Masters tries to clinch up.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Jones, as that shot connected.

Jones looking to score a takedown here. Masters is defending well but Jones drives through and ends up in Masters's guard.

Masters has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Jones should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Masters has tightened it up now! Jones should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Tommy Masters!
