Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 19 - 2, fighting out of Tokyo, Kisuke Urahara!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 36 - 24 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rumina Sato!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, James Glass and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Urahara throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Sato! But no joy.
Nice straight punches there by Urahara. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Urahara.
Urahara throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
A head kick from Urahara lands but Sato takes it in his stride.
A slow jab from Sato misses its intended target.
Urahara uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Sato.
A little feinted left hand from Urahara on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Urahara moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Urahara blocks a low kick nicely.
Urahara slips a straight right by Sato.
Urahara looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Sato throws a nice looking combination but Urahara bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Sato has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Sato there as he acknowledges the shot.
Nice takedown defense from Sato. No joy for Urahara on that attempt.
Sato now looks to counter with a shot at the body.

A little feinted left hand from Urahara on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Urahara fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Sato looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

It looked like Urahara was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Urahara lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Sato looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Urahara fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Sato.

Urahara loads up on a big right hand but Sato slips the punch.
Sato cracks Urahara with an open hand slap.

Sato throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Urahara pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Sato blocks a jab.
Urahara is looking to score with low kicks.

Sato manages to break the clinch.

and Urahara counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Urahara is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Sato is just riding it out for now. Urahara eventually gives up the hold.
Sato is positioning himself well to prevent Urahara advancing to mount.

Urahara is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Sato doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Urahara.
The fighters are battling for position here. Sato manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Urahara wants to pass the guard but Sato is keeping the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Sato throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Urahara.
Urahara throws a sloppy head kick and Sato moves out of range easily.
Urahara misses with a shot to the body
and Sato counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Sato avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Urahara fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Urahara missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Urahara stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sato swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Sato lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Sato content to stall in guard here.
Let's hope that Sato has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Sato must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Urahara is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Sato not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Urahara had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Sato defends it easily.

Sato decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Urahara, up you get!

Sato stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Sato wants it to stay on the feet.

Rumina Sato showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Urahara's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Sato rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Urahara moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Sato enables Urahara to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Sato manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Sato is on top in guard.

Sato takes a little break here. Urahara wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Sato is looking to take a break and control but Urahara is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Kisuke Urahara has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Sato creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Urahara moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Urahara will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Sato swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Rumina Sato is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Rumina Sato comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Sato winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
