Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Reuben Lowery (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Connor Michael (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Reuben Lowery!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Connor Michael!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Russell Pearce and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Michael fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Lowery sprawls well initially but Michael persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Michael is taking a breather. Lowery says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Lowery knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Michael on the ground.
Lowery is trying to stand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Michael stalling.
Michael works his way into full mount!
Michael throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lowery is desperately trying to improve his position but Michael has a good base and remains in mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Michael takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Michael prevents Lowery from getting the reversal.
Michael unloads with some shots from mount but Lowery bucks and avoids them well.

Michael has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Lowery is trying to stand up.

Michael with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Let's hope that Michael has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Michael jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Lowery manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Lowery really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Lowery tries to improve position but can't.

Michael is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Lowery knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Michael misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Michael decides to stand back up.

Michael closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Lowery trying to hold on to Michael's head to control him but Michael postures up.
Michael is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Michael closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Lowery's guard.
Michael stays in close to Lowery's body and controls the position.
Lowery wants to sweep but no luck.

Lowery is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Lowery will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Lowery has momentary wrist control but Michael slips an elbow through the middle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Michael working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lowery doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lowery manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Lowery not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Lowery wants to control from the top but Michael keeps moving.

Lowery is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Michael has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Michael pulls Lowery in to control the position.

Michael is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Michael manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Lowery manages to get himself to full guard.

Michael gets to his feet. Lowery looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Lowery wants to get back to striking at distance but Michael won't allow it.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Michael holds on and takes a little breather.

Lowery avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Lowery is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Lowery wants to control from the top but Michael keeps moving.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Michael shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Michael is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Lowery wants to get back to full guard.

Connor Michael showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Michael drops back looking for a leg! Lowery is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lowery manages to kick Michael off! Michael jumps back into Lowery's guard.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Lowery is looking to stand up but Michael isn't so interested in that idea.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Michael shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Michael was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Lowery prevents Michael from improving position.
Michael moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Michael decides to stand back up.

Michael shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Michael slips a nice elbow through Lowery's hands, connecting with Lowery's forehead.

Lowery wants to improve his position but Michael is controlling well.

Michael slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Connor Michael comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Michael has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
