PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Roman Aguilar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dennis Golden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Roman Aguilar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dennis Golden!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Alec Ball and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Golden shoots and misses
and Aguilar counters with a big head kick but Golden shrugs it off.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Golden.
Aguilar appears to be looking for a big counter.

Golden looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Aguilar!

Golden goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Aguilar has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Golden but great work by Aguilar.
Aguilar will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Aguilar tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Aguilar has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Aguilar is looking to take a break and control but Golden is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Aguilar really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Aguilar wants to work for an arm triangle but Golden is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Golden throws a leg kick which misses Aguilar's front leg but catches the back leg as Aguilar tries to avoid it.

Aguilar throws a quick counter head kick but Golden was just out of range.

Aguilar gets tackled into the cage by Golden. Golden maintains the clinch.
Golden drops down looking for an ankle pick but Aguilar pulls his leg out and moves away.
Roman Aguilar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dennis Golden.

Aguilar tries to keep at a distance but Golden has taken the fight into the clinch.

Golden blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Golden has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Aguilar uses from the top position.

Golden has his foot on Aguilar's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Aguilar works his way back into a safe position though.

That was a close round but I would say that Roman Aguilar will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Golden wriggles free and stands up.

Golden closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Aguilar's guard.

Golden gets to his feet - Aguilar follows without any prompting.
Aguilar pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Aguilar wants to get back to full guard but Golden has mounted him!

Aguilar is looking to work some ground and pound but Golden has wrist control.

Golden is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

A close second round but Dennis Golden will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Golden gets control of Aguilar's arms and successfully pulls guard. Golden will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

As Golden tries to get set, Aguilar tries to push him back and clinch up but Golden manages to avoid the attempt.

Golden has Aguilar pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Aguilar manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Golden takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Golden tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Aguilar takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Golden wants the takedown. Aguilar is fighting it off but Golden persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Aguilar's guard against the cage.
Aguilar wants to sweep but no luck.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Aguilar is on top in guard.

Aguilar is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Golden is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Aguilar decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Golden has managed to clinch.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Aguilar stands up from Golden's guard - Aguilar perhaps looking for a knockout.
Aguilar keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Aguilar lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Golden misses with a hook to the body
and Aguilar counters with a one-two to the body.
A punch lands to the side of Aguilar 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Golden closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Aguilar stalling.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Dennis Golden.
I think Golden has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
