PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Noli De Castro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thomas Jefferson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Noli De Castro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Thomas Jefferson!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Matheus Silva and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jefferson has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from De Castro finds it's way round the side to connect with Jefferson's head.
De Castro throws a body kick that misses.
De Castro sets himself, and Jefferson steps forward looking for the clinch! De Castro avoids it this time.
Jefferson looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? De Castro is fending him off so far but Jefferson persists. Nope, De Castro circles away and we're back to standing.
De Castro swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

Jefferson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
De Castro tries to improve position but can't.
Jefferson in side control, throwing shots but De Castro defends.
De Castro is looking to reverse the position.
Jefferson in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Jefferson wants to control but De Castro is keeping him busy.
De Castro tries to buck Jefferson off but Jefferson is having none of it.
Jefferson trying to control the action but De Castro is working from the bottom.
Jefferson creates some space and throws a big elbow, but De Castro sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Jefferson lands some shots froms side control.
You can see the frustration on De Castro's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Jefferson decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Noli De Castro seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Nice body punch from De Castro.
Jefferson tries a head kick but it misses.

The crowd cheers as De Castro lands an impressive looking overhand right. Jefferson doesn't seem phased though.
De Castro connects with a nice looking jab.
De Castro leaves Jefferson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
De Castro is looking for a counter combo.
De Castro lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

De Castro gets caught napping as Jefferson dives in and scores a takedown. De Castro manages to retain guard.
De Castro is breathing heavily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Jefferson wants to control from the top but De Castro keeps moving.

Jefferson decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Jefferson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

De Castro blocking the ground and pound attempt from Jefferson.

Jefferson is working for a submission of some sort.
Jefferson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but De Castro does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Jefferson might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control De Castro haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jefferson thows a huge punch but De Castro dodges it nicely.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Jefferson wants to take a breather but De Castro is having none of it.
Jefferson not landing any meaningful shots this time.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Jefferson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Jefferson looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
De Castro wants to stand back up but Jefferson manages to pass into side control.

Jefferson shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches De Castro napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Jefferson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Jefferson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. De Castro did well to prevent Jefferson getting side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Jefferson is trying to control. De Castro wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Jefferson seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Jefferson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. De Castro is trying to defend but Jefferson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Thomas Jefferson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jefferson takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Jefferson shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
De Castro has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jefferson is working away from the top position though.
De Castro is not content to let Jefferson control the position.

Jefferson is trying to work for a kimura but De Castro is defending well.

Noli De Castro has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Jefferson rushes De Castro and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
De Castro lands with a short head shot on the inside.

Jefferson gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Jefferson wants to pass the guard but De Castro is keeping the position.
Jefferson is looking to work some ground and pound but De Castro has wrist control.
Jefferson stands and throws De Castro's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Jefferson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Jefferson misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

And that's the end of the fight!
Thomas Jefferson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Jefferson winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
