Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Art Joshua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jejomar Binay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Art Joshua!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jejomar Binay!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Seu Braga and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Binay throws the kick towards the body but Joshua avoids it.
Joshua looks to score with a jab to the body but Binay is just out of range.
Binay throws out a counter right but Joshua avoids it with no problem.

and Binay counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Joshua takes a jab right on the kisser.
Binay connects with a nice looking jab.

Binay closes the distance and pushes Joshua back into the cage.
Binay working hard to break the clinch.
Joshua has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Binay avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Joshua tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Binay avoids it.
Binay is pushing Joshua up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Binay stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Binay wants it to stay on the feet.

Binay lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Binay.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A punch lands to the side of Joshua 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Binay motions for Joshua to come forward. Binay throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Joshua is defended easily by Binay.
Binay thuds his right hand into Joshua's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Binay looks to land a combination. Joshua sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Binay lands with a straight right. Joshua didn't see that one coming.
Binay looks winded!
Joshua closes the distance and clinches up with Binay, looking for a takedown. Joshua pushes Binay against the cage but Binay circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Binay slaps away a takedown attempt from Joshua, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Binay scores with a nice strike.
Joshua is trying hard to land a takedown here. Binay sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

A looping hook to the body misses from Binay. Joshua does a little dance to reset his feet.
Joshua walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Joshua tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Binay manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Binay tries to score with a low kick but Joshua moves his leg out of the way.
A bone on bone clash there as Joshua blocks the leg kick.
Binay tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Joshua paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Joshua throws a head kick that misses.
Joshua moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
A looping hook to the body misses from Binay. Joshua does a little dance to reset his feet.
Joshua feinted with a counter takedown.
Joshua pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Binay back to the cage. Joshua follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Jejomar Binay seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Joshua has managed to clinch.
Joshua blocks a body shot from Binay.

Binay will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Joshua up against the cage.

Joshua drags the fight down to the ground.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Binay scores with a nice right hand.
The fighters circle momentarily. Binay darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Nice sprawl there from Binay as Joshua shoots in.
Binay sizes up Joshua with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Joshua darts in looking for a takedown but Binay gets double underhooks and turns Joshua into the cage.
A punch lands to the side of Joshua 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Binay throws a low kick, looking for Joshua's leg but Joshua calmly moves out of range.
Binay lands with a straight right. Joshua didn't see that one coming.
Binay has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Binay throws a front kick aimed at Joshua's knee but Joshua avoids it well.

Some bone on bone action there as Joshua checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Joshua tries to clinch there but Binay circles away.
Binay misses with a hook.
Joshua shoots in looking for a takedown. Binay tries to sprawl out of it but Joshua keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Binay manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Joshua jumps guard and drags Binay to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Joshua bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Binay's guard.

Joshua with a flurry of punches that miss.
Joshua is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Joshua seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Binay for as long as he can get away with.
Binay is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Joshua is controlling him.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Jejomar Binay showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Joshua dives in and grabs Binay's left leg, looking for a takedown. Binay pushes down on Joshua's head and hops out.
As Joshua backs off Binay throws a huge counter combo but Joshua manages to avoid it all.

Joshua takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Binay scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Joshua shoots in but no luck this time.
Binay lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Binay lands a glancing blow to the side of Joshua's head.
Binay keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Art Joshua is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Binay takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Joshua tries to close the distance and clinch up but Binay swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Binay stuns Joshua with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Binay misses with some punches.
Joshua tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Binay smiles and moves away.

Joshua will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Joshua takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

and Binay counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Binay circles away from the clinch attempt.
Jejomar Binay is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Binay moves into range and connects with a jab.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Joshua looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Joshua shoots in looking for a takedown. Binay tries to sprawl out of it but Joshua keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Binay manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Binay looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Binay lands with a good body shot.
Binay pivots, looking for a leg kick but Joshua is out of range and Binay settles back down.
Joshua walks into a straight right hand from Binay.
Joshua tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Binay defends well and Joshua ends up having to push Binay into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Joshua closes the distance and clinches.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Joshua breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Binay throws a head kick that misses.
Joshua tries to close the distance and clinch but Binay swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Binay displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Joshua.
Jejomar Binay is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Joshua will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Binay clinches up with Joshua and pushes him back against the cage.
Binay tries to stall but Joshua uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Art Joshua has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Jejomar Binay comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Binay winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
