The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dragon shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Mcintyre as he avoids it easily.

Mcintyre shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Dragon is trying to defend but Mcintyre finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Mcintyre lands with a punch from half guard.
Mcintyre lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mcintyre is looking for a kimura but Dragon is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Mcintyre to get the leverage.

Mcintyre scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Dragon to see if he's OK.

Mcintyre is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Dragon knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Mcintyre works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Dragon tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mcintyre wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Mcintyre wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Dragon, who protects the arm well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mcintyre lands a few punches from side control.
Mcintyre cracks Dragon with a big right hand but Dragon just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Dragon tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.

Mcintyre lands a couple of good shots and Dragon has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Mcintyre lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.

Mcintyre has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
