PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between I Am (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nicola Cardinale (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Am comes to the cage accompanied by Mobb Deep - Shook Ones Part II. Cardinale has chosen No Easy Way Out as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, I Am!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Nicola Cardinale!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Elvis Blanc and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Am gets the takedown into side control.
Cardinale is looking to reverse the position.
You can see the frustration on Cardinale's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Am decides to stand back up. Am steps back and let's Cardinale get back to his feet.
Nicola Cardinale seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cardinale moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Am throws a sloppy head kick and Cardinale moves out of range easily.
Cardinale was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Am moves out of range of the body kick.
It looked like Am wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Am takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Am scores with a hook to the body. Cardinale takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Am throws a chopping leg kick but Cardinale manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Am fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Cardinale manages to avoid it.
Am sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Good leg kick by Am there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Nice body kick from Cardinale.
Am scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.


It looks like Nicola Cardinale has been cut.
Am throws a right and a left that Cardinale avoids nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A solid leg kick lands there for Cardinale.
Cardinale scores with a hook to the body. Am takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
We've been hearing reports that Am has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Cardinale jabs Am to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Cardinale stuns Am with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Am lands with a good body shot.

Cardinale steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Am.
Cardinale throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

Cardinale lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Am at a distance.
Am throws a right hand that misses
and Cardinale counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Cardinale throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Cardinale stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Am.
Am throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Nicola Cardinale is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Am looks to land a body kick but Cardinale moved away.
Cardinale uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Am.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Cardinale - that will leave a mark!
Am takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Am pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Cardinale back to the cage. Am follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Am is looking to wear down Cardinale with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Cardinale avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Cardinale tries a head kick but it misses.
Cardinale scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Cardinale swings and misses with a hook to the body.
A little feinted left hand from Am on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Cardinale fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Cardinale just misses with a punch to the body.
Cardinale attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Cardinale moves into range and connects with a jab.
Am wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Cardinale fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Cardinale throws a lazy body kick
and Am counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Cardinale checks a leg kick.
Cardinale throws a quick inside leg kick.

and Am counters with a crisp one two that drops Cardinale! Am thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Cardinale to his feet! Cardinale is in big trouble!


Cardinale is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Cardinale misses the shot to the body.
Cardinale is still on wobbly legs! Can Am finish him?
Cardinale misses with a head kick.
Cardinale seems to have recovered his senses.
Cardinale uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Cardinale walks straight into a right hand from Am - that's dropped him! Am jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Cardinale from any more punishment! Cardinale complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). I Am!

Nicola Cardinale was interviewed post fight and said 'I'd just like to say, fuck my opponent and fuck the judges. Thank you.'.
