PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Neil Drake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darth Vader (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vader is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: The Imperial March. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Neil Drake!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Darth Vader !
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, James Atkins and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Drake swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Vader does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Vader takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Drake takes a swing at Vader 's ribcage but misses.
Drake jabs Vader to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Vader throws an overhand right that lands on Drake's shoulder, as Drake tries to avoid the shot.
Vader throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Drake.
Drake throws a hook but Vader blocks it.
Neil Drake seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Vader misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Drake.
Vader keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Vader , as that shot connected.
A telegraphed right hand from Drake misses the target.
Drake just misses with a punch to the body.
Vader pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Vader uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Drake.
Vader appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Drake shoots in looking for a takedown. Vader tries to sprawl out of it but Drake keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Vader manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Vader dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Drake. That did some damage!
Vader is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Drake.
Vader throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Drake sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Vader swings for the body but Drake moves out of range.
Drake half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Drake has a takedown stuffed.
Drake takes a jab right on the kisser.
Vader walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Vader throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Drake waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Vader .

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Drake swings for the body but Vader moves out of range.
Drake is looking to wear down Vader with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Vader fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Drake checks it well.
Drake throws a nice looking combination but Vader bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Drake darts in looking for a takedown but Vader gets double underhooks and turns Drake into the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Neil Drake. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Vader throws a quick inside leg kick.
Vader takes a jab right on the kisser.
Drake tries for a takedown but Vader circles away easily
and Vader counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Drake lands with a nice body punch.
Drake misses with an uppercut. Vader saw that one coming.
A jab from Vader misses.
Drake fails with the takedown.
Drake swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Drake takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Vader tries to land a leg kick but Drake saw it coming and moves away.

Vader drops Drake with a big left hand and mounts him. Drake is in big trouble!


Drake is rocked!
Vader content just to control the position here.
Oh Drake is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Vader working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Vader postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Drake bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Vader and the fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Darth Vader ! Darth Vader retains his bantamweight title!
Darth Vader seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
