Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gunji Koizumi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Silvio Gasaspo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gunji Koizumi!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Silvio Gasaspo!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Daniel Bishop and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Koizumi has managed to clinch.
Gasaspo trying to stall but Koizumi improves his position.
Koizumi avoids a wild elbow strike from Gasaspo.

Koizumi tightens his grip and picks Gasaspo up, before dumping him to the ground. Gasaspo manages to land in guard.
Koizumi lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Gasaspo is trying to keep Koizumi in close.

Gasaspo working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Koizumi has passed into half guard!
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Koizumi connects with a nice short shot to Gasaspo's temple.

Koizumi is nestled in close to Gasaspo, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

What can Gasaspo do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Koizumi has the hooks in. Gasaspo is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Gasaspo fails to land with a series of punches.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We've been hearing good reports from Koizumi's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Koizumi is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Gasaspo's half guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
