Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hans Gruber!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Colin Fotheringham and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gruber clinches.

Gorman is fighting to break Gruber's control of his arms but Gruber is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Gorman wants to clinch up but Gruber keeps it at a distance.
Gruber tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
We've been told by Gorman's head coaches at RCJ Machado Jiu-Jitsu that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Gorman tries to close the distance and clinch but Gruber swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Gorman is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Gorman tries to clinch but Gruber moves out of range.

and Gruber counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A relieved looking Hans Gruber thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
