Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Stanton Downs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zululu Zigzag (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Stanton Downs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Zululu Zigzag!
The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Ben Hemmingworth and Skip Squint.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zigzag stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Zigzag has taken the fight to the clinch.
Zigzag crunches a lovely knee into Downs's ribcage.
Zigzag scores with a hook to the body.
Zigzag landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Downs is breathing heavily.
Downs slowing the pace effectively.
Downs is pushing Zigzag up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Zigzag's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Zigzag moves into range and clinches up with Downs.
Downs is trying to maintain a safe position but Zigzag gets an underhook and turns Downs into the cage.
Downs looking to stall.
Zigzag lands a good knee to the midsection. Downs won't want to take too many of those.

Zigzag pulls guard effortlessly.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Zigzag is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Zigzag perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Downs is looking to improve his position.

Zigzag decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Zigzag rushes Downs and presses him up against the cage.

Zigzag gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Downs regains guard.

Zigzag stands and steps away. Downs gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Zigzag will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Downs could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Zigzag.

Zigzag decides to stand back up.

Zigzag escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Zigzag is trying to trip Downs. He has hold of a leg but Downs is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Zigzag persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Zigzag gets to his feet - Downs follows without any prompting.

Zigzag decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Downs, up you get!

The referee is keeping an eye on Zigzag - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Zigzag keeps control of Downs as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Downs is trying to drag Zigzag to the mat but Zigzag just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Zigzag escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Downs shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Zigzag defends it nicely.

Zigzag takes the fight into the clinch.

Zululu Zigzag dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Downs dodges the punch combination from Zigzag.

Zigzag clinches up against the cage.
Zululu Zigzag seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.

Downs gets control of Zigzag's arms and successfully pulls guard. Downs will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Zigzag wants to control from the top but Downs keeps moving.
Downs might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Downs is on top in guard.

Zigzag utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Downs throws an elbow that misses. Zigzag uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Downs's guard. Nice move by Zigzag!

Zigzag looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Downs!
You can see the frustration on Downs's face as Zigzag controls the position.
Downs tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Zigzag easily slips into full mount!
Zigzag throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Let's hope that Zigzag has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Zigzag misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Downs knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Zigzag on the ground.

Zigzag tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Zigzag's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Downs sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Zigzag throws a head kick that half lands.

Zigzag rushes Downs and starts throwing punches like they are going out of style! Downs is up against the cage and has nowhere to go. Zigzag piles on the pressure and Downs crumples to the floor! This one is all over!
