PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ron Bob (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frankie Palmeri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

With a record of 4 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Frankie Palmeri!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Roosa Järviläinen and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bob fails with a takedown attempt.
Bob tries to close the distance and clinch up but Palmeri swats him away and circles back towards the center.
We've been hearing reports that Bob has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Bob gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Palmeri connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Bob tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Palmeri defends well and Bob ends up having to push Palmeri into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ron Bob. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Palmeri moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Palmeri throws a head kick that misses.
Bob tries to clinch there but Palmeri circles away.
Palmeri dips to his left and cracks Bob with an uppercut!
A solid leg kick lands there for Palmeri.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Palmeri counters with a right hand to the body.
Palmeri shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Bob eats them both and turns towards Palmeri to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.


It looks like Ron Bob has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bob tries to bum rush Palmeri with a series of wild strikes but Palmeri uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Bob takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Palmeri just misses with a punch to the body.

and Palmeri counters with a nice double leg into side control. Bob won't be happy with that.
Palmeri cracks Bob with a big right hand but Bob just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Bob tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Bob manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Palmeri is trying to get back to full guard.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Bob lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Bob wants to control from the top but Palmeri keeps moving.
Bob throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Palmeri works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Bob throws an elbow that misses. Palmeri uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Bob's guard. Nice move by Palmeri!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Frankie Palmeri dominated that round.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Bob doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Palmeri counters with a head kick. That will keep Bob thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

and Palmeri counters with a flying knee that drops Bob! Palmeri dives in and finishes the fight with a flurry of strikes from the mount!
