Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Damien Conner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Rodriguez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Damien Conner!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Carlos Rodriguez !
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Radbod Blank and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Conner misses with a low kick.
Carlos Rodriguez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rodriguez moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Rodriguez throws a head kick but Conner moves out of range.
Conner lands a head kick!

Conner has closed the distance and engaged Rodriguez in a clinch.

Rodriguez 's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Conner misses with a few strikes there.
Rodriguez lands a front kick.
Rodriguez throws a leg kick but Conner checks it.
Conner is looking to counter punch.
Rodriguez cracks the inside of Conner's front leg.
Rodriguez throws a sloppy head kick
and Conner counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Conner fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Rodriguez , pushing him back against the cage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Rodriguez breaks from the clinch.
Good work by Conner as he checks the leg kick.
Rodriguez throws a head kick that misses
and Conner counters with a low kick, right behind Rodriguez 's knee.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rodriguez goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Conner tests Rodriguez 's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Conner pushes Rodriguez up against the cage in a clinch.
Conner looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Rodriguez is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Rodriguez is trying to break the clinch but Conner is controlling him.
Conner stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Rodriguez blocks the elbow strike.

Rodriguez ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Rodriguez no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Conner wants to stand but Rodriguez has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rodriguez looking for a guillotine here but Conner defends easily.

Rodriguez looking for a sweep. Not yet Rodriguez , not yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rodriguez is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rodriguez lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Conner wants to sweep but no luck.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rodriguez 's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Rodriguez wants to control from the top but Conner keeps moving.
Rodriguez is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Rodriguez trying to control the position from guard on top but Conner is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Rodriguez controls from within his opponent's guard.
Conner is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Rodriguez is controlling him.
Rodriguez loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Rodriguez wants to control from the top but Conner keeps moving.
Conner is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Rodriguez tries to free his leg and advance position but Conner is retaining full guard.
Rodriguez stands and throws Conner's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Rodriguez working the head and body with strikes.

Rodriguez has hold of Conner's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Conner seems comfortable defending it but Rodriguez has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Conner is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Conner is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Rodriguez couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Carlos Rodriguez !
