The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Escobar wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Escobar is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Escobar tries to clinch but Alvarez moves out of range.

Alvarez misses with a hook to the ribs.
Alvarez has a couple of punches blocked by Escobar.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Escobar has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Alvarez tries to work over Escobar's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Escobar tries to pull guard but Alvarez holds him up against the cage and eventually Escobar drops back down to his feet.

Alvarez pushes Escobar back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Alvarez creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Alvarez tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Alvarez tries a body shot but Escobar blocks it.
Alvarez struggles to land a body shot inside as Escobar controls his hands.
Alvarez misses with a hook from the clinch.
Escobar is looking to control Alvarez's arms but Alvarez gets an underhook and turns him. Now Escobar has his back to the cage.

Alvarez is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Escobar has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Alvarez is looking to defend but Escobar has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Alvarez! Escobar pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Alvarez taps out and this one is all over!
