CEC 449 PBP Commentary


Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Thomas Raven and Karim Bashorov. The crowd seem to be enjoying Bashorov's choice of entrance music: Hangar 18. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Karim Bashorov was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

We've been informed that Bashorov has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

Raven uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Bashorov.

Bashorov throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Karim Bashorov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Raven scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Raven swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Bashorov shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Bashorov is looking for a triangle but Raven pushes his legs off easily.

Bashorov working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Raven doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Raven manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Bashorov has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Bashorov pushes a forearm under Raven's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Raven is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
