PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jerome Le Banner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charles LaFontier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Charles LaFontier told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 34 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Charles LaFontier!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Johanna Lukiainen.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Banner lands a body shot.
Banner throws a right hand that misses
and LaFontier cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Banner shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches LaFontier napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Banner trying to control the position but LaFontier is working away.
Banner working the body and head with strikes.
LaFontier is trying to control Banner's posture but Banner avoids it.
LaFontier is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Banner looks up at the clock and then as LaFontier takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Banner smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Banner slows the pace down.
LaFontier tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Banner working the ground and pound.
We've been hearing that Banner has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Banner tries to score with some ground and pound. LaFontier controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Banner misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
LaFontier wants to control but Banner postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
LaFontier is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Banner's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Banner lands with a punch from half guard.
Banner is nestled in close to LaFontier, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Banner wants to free his trapped foot but LaFontier is holding on for dear life with his legs.

LaFontier kicks off Banner and gets to his feet.
Banner misses with a hook. LaFontier ducked under it nicely.

LaFontier closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Banner to the mat! Banner manages to get full guard.

LaFontier gets to his feet. Banner looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Banner fails to land the takedown.
A jab from LaFontier misses.
This has been an exciting period of action!
LaFontier throws a lazy right hand but Banner sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
LaFontier swinging wildly here.
LaFontier has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from LaFontier there as he acknowledges the shot.

It looks like Charles LaFontier has been cut.
Banner throws the left hand but LaFontier avoids the punch easily.
Banner fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Banner blocks a head kick by LaFontier.
