Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Shon York!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Suraj Singh!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Ryoma Takatsuka and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Singh decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
York really is a fat lump.
Singh content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
York is holding on to half guard well.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
York wants to control but Singh is keeping busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Singh postures up and lands a big shot to York's brow.

Singh really doesn't want to stay on the ground with York. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

York decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Singh, up you get!

Singh is just content to waste time from the top position. York takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Singh wants to get up but he can't break York's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
York is trying to control the position from the bottom.
York keeping moving, preventing Singh from controlling successfully.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
York looking for a sweep. Not yet York, not yet.
Singh stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. York swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Singh tries a head kick but it misses.

Singh closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. York did well to prevent Singh getting side control.
Singh is looking to take a break and control but York is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Singh manages to get an easy takedown there - catching York on his heels. He'll look to pass York's guard now, I'm sure.

York uses the cage to get back to his feet.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from York.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

York might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

York throws a strike but Singh rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


Singh gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Singh, right into the meat.
Singh throws a quick head kick that skims the top of York's head.


It looks like Shon York has been cut.
York tries to score a power double leg takedown but Singh sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten York somewhat.

Singh shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Singh was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Singh wants to control but York is keeping him busy.
York manages to work his way to half guard, despite Singh's best efforts.
York is not content to let Singh control the position.

Singh is thwarting York's attempts to control the position.
Singh landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Singh perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

York looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Singh trying to control the action but York is working from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Singh throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. York was covering up waiting for the punch and Singh finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Singh not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Suraj Singh showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

York is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

York tries to close the distance and clinch but Singh swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Left hook, right uppercut from Singh.

Oooooh!!! Singh has knocked York down with a huge combo! Singh steps away and waves a wobbly York back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!


York is rocked!

Suraj Singh comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Singh has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
