PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Adam Angel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kas Crum (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Adam Angel has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 1, fighting out of London, Adam Angel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Kas Crum!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Richard Clark and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Angel keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Crum tries to close the distance and clinch but Angel swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
No joy there for Angel, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Angel shoots in looking for a takedown. Crum tries to sprawl out of it but Angel keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Crum manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Angel defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Crum.

Crum darts in and clinches Angel up against the cage.

Crum escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Angel shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Crum pinned against the cage. Crum gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Angel gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Crum jumps guard but Angel turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Adam Angel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kas Crum.

Angel jumps into guard, dragging Crum to the mat.

Angel is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Crum defends well.
Crum lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Crum throws a strike but Angel rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


Crum throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Angel escapes and throws Crum's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Angel content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Crum should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Angel decides to stand back up. Angel steps back and let's Crum get back to his feet.
Crum tries to clinch up.
Angel displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Crum.
Crum stuffs the takedown.

Angel instigates a clinch.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Crum jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Angel walks away with a smile on his face. Crum gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Angel misses with a few strikes there.

Crum clinches.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Crum wants a takedown.
Crum tries for a takedown. No joy.

Angel drags the fight down to the ground.
Angel looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Crum preventing the sweep.

Crum has gone for a leg lock! Angel slips out almost immediately though and dives into Crum's guard.

Crum can't keep his opponent in guard - Angel advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Crum looks winded!
Angel stalling.

Crum is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Angel controlling the pace.
Angel will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Adam Angel dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Angel shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Crum defends it nicely.
Angel fails with a takedown attempt.
Angel shoots in for a takedown but Crum shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Adam Angel. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Angel falls off balance throwing a combination
and Crum counters with a one-two to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Crum fails with an attempt to clinch.
A little feinted left hand from Angel on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Crum fails with the takedown
and Angel counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Angel closes the distance and clinches.

Crum tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Crum is looking to break free of the clinch but Angel has double underhooks.

Angel successfully pulls guard.
Crum throwing strikes from guard but Angel blocks nicely.
Crum wants to control from the top but Angel keeps moving.
Crum being controlled here momentarily.
Angel looking to hit a scissor sweep but Crum is one step ahead there.
Crum throws a strike but Angel rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Angel is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Angel loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Angel passes into half guard.
Crum is looking to control Angel's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Crum avoid being mounted?
The fighters are battling for position here. Crum manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Angel postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Crum being controlled here, momentarily.
Angel is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Crum can do to turn this around?

Angel gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Angel forces Crum back against the cage and clinches.
Angel keeps control of Crum as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Angel tries to land a knee to the head but Crum blocks with his arms.
Crum pushes off an throws an elbow but Angel leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Crum breaks from the clinch.
Adam Angel is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Angel clinches up with Crum and pushes him back against the cage.
Crum is trying to stall.

Angel jumps guard and drags Crum to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Angel manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Angel tries to pull guard but Crum won't allow it.
Angel gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Crum.
Crum jumps guard but Angel stands there with Crum around his waist. Crum gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Crum is breathing heavily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Crum wants to break the clinch but can't.

Angel turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Crum bucks up and tries to throw Angel off but instead Angel has got his back!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Adam Angel dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Angel has managed to clinch.
Angel has Crum pressed against the cage, preventing Crum from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Angel fails to pull guard.
Crum stops a takedown attempt from Angel.
Crum keeps control of Angel as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Angel stalls.
Angel wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Crum trying to control but Angel is working from the bottom.
Crum looking to sit in guard and control but Angel gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Angel controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Crum working a defensive guard here.
Crum wants to sweep here but Angel controlling him for the moment.
Angel pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Crum is keeping the position for now.

Angel gets to his feet - Crum follows without any prompting.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Angel gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Angel blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Angel has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Crum uses from the top position.
Angel seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Angel is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Crum defends well.
Crum would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Angel has his hands on Crum's head, controlling the position.

Crum looking to sit in guard and control but Angel gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Crum is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Angel not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Angel sitting in guard here, content to control.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Angel accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Angel pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Crum is keeping the position for now.
Angel is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Angel's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Angel, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
