Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lyman Kissell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Conor McConnell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McConnell has chosen Immortal Technique Point of no return as his entrance music. Lyman Kissell is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lyman Kissell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Conor McConnell!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Aleksandr Martynov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kissell moves out of range as McConnell strikes.
McConnell throws a left and a right that both miss
and McConnell takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
McConnell connects with a body shot that sends Kissell's belly button to the back.
Kissell swings for the body but McConnell moves out of range.
McConnell lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
McConnell misses with a double jab.
McConnell misses the jab.

McConnell throws an overhand right that lands on Kissell's shoulder, as Kissell tries to avoid the shot.
McConnell throws a series of punches but Kissell moves out of range.

Despite the aggression on McConnell's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Kissell thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on McConnell if he has to take too many more of those.

Kissell has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

McConnell really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kissell. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

McConnell got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kissell has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, McConnell has managed to get both his arms back between Kissell's legs - danger averted.
Kissell wants to sweep but no luck.

I was talking to Kissell's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Lyman Kissell.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kissell, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
