Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dongstae Friend (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Buddy Elf (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buddy Elf will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dongstae Friend!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Buddy Elf!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Konstantin Menshow and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Friend has closed the distance and engaged Elf in a clinch.
Elf can't get the takedown.
Elf is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Friend pulls Elf into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Elf being controlled here momentarily.
Elf wants to stand but Friend has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Elf wants to stand and escape but instead Friend has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Friend content to stall in guard here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Friend pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Elf is keeping the position for now.

Friend stays in close to Elf's body and controls the position.
Friend has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Friend's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Friend stops Elf from standing up.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Friend could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Friend advances position into side control!
Elf is letting Friend control him for a moment.

Friend wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Elf, who protects the arm well.

Friend is trying to get an arm triangle but Elf is defending well.

Friend controls the position from side control.
Friend working away.

Friend is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Elf has escaped the position, nice work there.
Elf tries to buck Friend off but Friend is having none of it.
Friend controls the position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Friend is staying tight to Elf's torso, preventing him from escaping.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Friend looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Elf kicks off Friend and gets to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Elf shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Friend as he avoids it easily.
Friend seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Dongstae Friend is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Friend looks to throw the jab but Elf is out of range.
As Friend backs off Elf throws a huge counter combo but Friend manages to avoid it all.
Elf stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Elf wants it to stay on the feet.
Elf feints the counter takedown.
Friend pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Elf tries to keep at a distance but Friend has taken the fight into the clinch.
Friend has Elf pressed against the cage, preventing Elf from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Friend throws a knee to the head but misses.
Friend looking to slow down the pace here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Elf manages to break the clinch.
Elf ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Elf shoots in for a takedown but Friend shows good takedown defense.
Friend throws a nice looking combination but Elf bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Horrible takedown attempt by Elf or perhaps it was just good defense by Friend, which made it look bad.
Dongstae Friend has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Buddy Elf.

Elf throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Friend was covering up waiting for the punch and Elf finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Friend kicks Elf off and gets to his feet.

Friend has Elf up against the cage in a clinch.

Elf breaks the clinch.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Elf scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Friend pushes Elf off and gets back to his feet.

Friend shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Friend performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Elf really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Friend. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Friend tries to pass to full mount but Elf defends it.
Elf is trying to get back to full guard.
Friend sitting and controlling from the half guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Friend is figuring out what he wants to do next.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Elf is looking to control Friend's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Elf avoid being mounted?

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Friend closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Elf has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Friend is looking to take this one to the mat.
A head punch on the inside from Elf fails to land.
Elf is trying to maintain a safe position but Friend gets an underhook and turns Elf into the cage.
Friend stops a takedown attempt from Elf.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Elf tries to score a power double leg takedown but Friend sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Elf somewhat.
Friend appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Elf is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Friend is defending well for now.

Friend jumps guard but Elf stands there with Friend around his waist. Friend gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Elf's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Dongstae Friend seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Friend gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Friend is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Elf can't fight it off and eventually Friend manages to take the fight to the floor. Elf looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Friend postures up in Elf's guard and throws a big left but Elf blocks it.

Dongstae Friend overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Friend tries to free his leg and advance position but Elf is retaining full guard.
Elf controls Friend momentarily but Friend frees himself.

Friend might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Friend engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Friend closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Elf is trying to maintain the position but Friend is very close to passing his half guard.
Friend is pressing down on Elf's thigh, looking to free his foot. Elf is holding on for now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Friend seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Friend stops Elf from getting back to his feet.
Friend is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Friend moves into full mount! Elf won't be happy about that!
Friend content just to control the position here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Dongstae Friend showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Friend has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
