Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sam Talbert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Reuben Cox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cox has chosen Lituation-Fabolous as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Sam Talbert!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Reuben Cox!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Trevor Gratis and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Talbert connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Cox misses with an uppercut
and Talbert connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Cox closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Talbert throws a lazy uppercut
and Cox counters with a nice uppercut.
Cox lands a jab to the nose.
We've been hearing reports that Talbert has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Talbert shoots in for a double leg but Cox sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Cox throws a big counter head kick but Talbert avoids it with no problem.
Cox throws a jab but it's blocked by Talbert.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Cox has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Talbert misses with a left hand
letting Cox counter with a right hand.

Cox cracks Talbert with an uppercut from hell and Talbert crumples to the canvas, he's out! Oh no, he's recovered and he's grabbed one of Cox's legs and pulled him into guard. The ref thought about stopping it there but he's let it go - good reffing!


Talbert is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Cox is looking to pass into half guard but Talbert pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Talbert is in guard.

Oh Talbert is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Cox looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Talbert seems to have got his legs back now.
Talbert throws a big right hand that misses.

Talbert slips nicely into half guard.
Talbert looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Cox with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Cox tries to roll over but Talbert keeps him under control.
Talbert is stalling here. Cox is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Talbert seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Cox has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Cox works to advance to full mount. Talbert defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Talbert is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Talbert wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

Cox tightening his grip on Talbert, looking for the choke.

Cox has the hooks in. Talbert is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Cox has got his arm under Talbert's chin working for the choke… has he got it? It looks pretty tight! Oh! Talbert has spun round into Cox's guard beautifully! Well done that man!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Talbert slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Cox seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Talbert scoring with some ground and pound.

Talbert seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Talbert is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Cox's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Talbert connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Cox scrambles back to his feet.

A looping hook to the body misses from Talbert. Cox does a little dance to reset his feet.

Reuben Cox seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Talbert looks to land a left hand but Cox moved out of range nicely.

Talbert throws an overhand right that lands on Cox's shoulder, as Cox tries to avoid the shot.

Cox takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Talbert fails with the takedown.
Cox is clearly looking to counter with head kicks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sam Talbert. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Cox counters with a good, hard body kick but Talbert shrugs it off.

Cox sets himself and throws a head kick that knocks Talbert to the ground! Cox dives into full mount looking to finish!


It looks like Sam Talbert has been cut.

Talbert tries to lock up and control but Cox gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Sam Talbert will probably get the nod.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Talbert lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Cox bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Cox leaves Talbert with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
