Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chris Barker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Latta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Chris Barker has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Chris Barker seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Barker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, David Latta!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Gregory Folan and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Barker drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Barker misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Barker misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Barker in side control, throwing shots but Latta defends.

Barker tries for a kimura but Latta is defending well.
Barker could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Barker tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Barker in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Latta is looking for a sweep.
Barker throws a strike aimed at the side of Latta's head but Latta avoids it well.
The strikes coming from Barker are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Latta is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Barker tries to score with some ground and pound. Latta controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Barker swings around for an armbar but Latta sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Barker's guard.
Barker throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Latta wants to control from the top but Barker keeps moving.
Latta cracks Barker with a solid left hand.
Barker throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Latta postures up.
Barker tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Latta scoring with some ground and pound.
Latta with a nice head shot there.
Latta looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Latta trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Latta stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Barker has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Latta manages to get his head free but now Barker has transitioned to an armbar! Latta grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Barker! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Chris Barker!
