Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 11 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Walter Herman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jackson Mills!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Peter Branson and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Herman fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Mills tries to bum rush Herman with a series of wild strikes but Herman uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Mills stuffs the takedown.

Mills lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Walter Herman. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mills lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Herman backs up against the cage.


It looks like Walter Herman has been cut.
Mills tries to close the distance and clinch up but Herman swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Herman went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Mills scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Herman seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Herman seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Mills for as long as he can get away with.
Herman looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Mills is avoiding damage well.

Herman decides to stand back up.

and Herman decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Mills's guard.
Mills really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Herman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Herman controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Mills has momentary wrist control but Herman slips an elbow through the middle.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Jackson Mills seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Herman misses with a takedown attempt - Mills sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Herman shoots in looking for a takedown. Mills tries to sprawl out of it but Herman keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mills manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Herman drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Herman advances to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Walter Herman will probably get the nod.

Mills moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Walter Herman is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Sloppy strikes from Mills. Those never looked like landing.
Herman is looking for a counter combo.
Mills tries to bum rush Herman with a series of wild strikes but Herman uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Mills does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Mills throws a jab when Herman was well out of range.
Herman shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mills sprawls well. Mills wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Herman gets slowly back to his feet.
Mills lands a jab to the nose.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Herman closes the distance and pushes Mills back into the cage.
Mills wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Herman has him pressed against the cage.
Mills is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Herman manages to break the clinch.
Mills attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Jackson Mills seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Mills throws a right and a left that both miss.

Mills changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Herman looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Herman manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Mills throws a strike but Herman avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Mills trying to control the position from guard on top but Herman is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Mills throws a big elbow that misses.

Herman pulls Mills in close to his closed guard and prevents Mills from doing any damage or advancing position.
Mills keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Herman's head.
Herman wants to sweep but no luck.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Herman holds on and takes a little breather.
Mills throws an elbow that misses. Herman uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Mills's guard. Nice move by Herman!

Herman is standing up over Mills. Mills looks to escape but Herman dives into side control.
Mills is breathing heavily.

Herman advances nicely into full mount.

Herman's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Herman is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Mills is surviving well by controlling Herman's body position as best he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Herman is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Mills swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Herman counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Mills defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Herman.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Walter Herman. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mills keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Herman changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mills tries to avoid it but Herman manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mills to the ground. Mills escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

and Herman counters with a stiff right hand.
Herman is trying hard to land a takedown here. Mills sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Mills is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Herman.
As Mills looks to move away, Herman throws a big counter combo but Mills just gets out of the way.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Walter Herman will probably get the nod.

Mills throws a one two combo.

Mills is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Herman pulls his head out easily.
Mills takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Herman takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Herman has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Mills throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Herman counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Mills!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Herman cracks Mills with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Mills is trying to escape the position but Herman is controlling the position.
The ground and pound from Herman seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Mills is working to avoid the ground and pound but Herman connects with a decent elbow.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
You can see the frustration on Mills's face as Herman controls the position.
Mills looks to move to half guard but instead Herman has passed into mount! Damn!
Jackson Mills has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Walter Herman is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Walter Herman showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Herman, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
