Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lewis Rampage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Lucas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lewis Rampage!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Steve Lucas!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Hugh Johnson and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rampage forces Lucas back against the cage and clinches.

Rampage escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Lucas fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Rampage avoids it really well and circles away.
Rampage seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Rampage throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Lucas was covering up waiting for the punch and Rampage finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Lucas kicks Rampage off and gets to his feet.
Steve Lucas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Lucas gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Rampage wants to pass the guard but Lucas is keeping the position.

Lucas is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Rampage defends well.
Rampage not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Lucas looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Lucas controls Rampage momentarily but Rampage frees himself.
Rampage postures up and lands a big shot to Lucas's brow.

Lucas is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Rampage defends well.

Rampage drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Lucas dives on top into guard.

Lucas is fighting to break Rampage's control of his arms but Rampage is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Lucas won't allow Rampage to sweep him here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rampage is working hard here to advance position.
Rampage knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lucas on the ground.

Lucas drops back, looking for a kneebar! Rampage looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Rampage looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Rampage!


Rampage wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Lucas, who protects the arm well.

Rampage stands up.
Lucas shoots for a takedown but Rampage saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

and Rampage holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Lewis Rampage has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steve Lucas.
Rampage lands a nice knee to the body.

Rampage pulls guard effortlessly.

Rampage has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Lucas is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Rampage has hold of one of Lucas's legs. Lucas is fighting the takedown attempt but Rampage gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Rampage gets to his feet. Lucas looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Lucas looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Lucas on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Rampage connects with a couple of short punches.
Lucas is trying to control the position but Rampage postures up.
Rampage is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Rampage drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Lucas manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Rampage has Lucas in his guard.

Lucas gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

so Rampage counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Lewis Rampage overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Lucas is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Lucas shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Rampage as he avoids it easily.

You can see the frustration on Lucas's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Lucas takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Lucas shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Rampage sprawls well. Rampage wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Lucas gets slowly back to his feet.

The referee asks Rampage politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Rampage prefers to stall for the moment though.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Lucas goes for a double leg but Rampage avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Rampage continues to drive forward.

Rampage seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
