The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hiwatari wants to clinch but Wappner slips to the side
and Wappner counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Hiwatari is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Hiwatari fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Wappner to the ground. Hiwatari is now in Wappner's guard.
Hiwatari is standing up over Wappner. Wappner looks to escape but Hiwatari dives into side control.

Wappner is trying to control Hiwatari's posture but Hiwatari avoids it.
Hiwatari just content to control the position.
Wappner takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Wappner is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Wappner is working hard here to advance position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hiwatari is putting a hurting on Wappner here, landing some big shots from side control.
Hiwatari has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Hiwatari tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Wappner tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Hiwatari is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Wappner looks calm but he's in trouble here. Hiwatari gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Wappner is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Hiwatari lets go of the hold and Wappner can pop his arm back in it's socket.
