Bakunin kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Against All Authority - Bakunin. And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Shun Watanabe!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bakunin's corner calls for a 1-2. Bakunin obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Bakunin tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Watanabe was well out of range. Poor timing from Bakunin.
Bakunin waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Watanabe.
Mikhail Bakunin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Watanabe keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Watanabe moves away from the strike by Bakunin.
Watanabe scores with a jab to the body.
Bakunin takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Watanabe lands a body shot.
Bakunin lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.


It looks like Shun Watanabe has been cut.
Bakunin is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Watanabe.
Bakunin throws a jab but it's blocked by Watanabe.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Watanabe tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Bakunin was well out of range. Poor timing from Watanabe.
Watanabe steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Bakunin.
Watanabe blocks a jab.
Watanabe moves out of range of the strikes.
Bakunin misses with a hook.
Watanabe slips a straight right by Bakunin.
Bakunin looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
A slow jab from Bakunin misses its intended target.
A countering left hand to the body from Watanabe misses.
Watanabe lands a jab.
Watanabe slips a straight right by Bakunin.

Bakunin misses with a right hand
and Watanabe counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Watanabe lands a nice hook to Bakunin's body. Bakunin takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Watanabe gets a takedown into half guard.

Bakunin kicks off Watanabe and gets to his feet.
Watanabe misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Bakunin.
It looked like Bakunin wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Bakunin misses with a lunging right hand
and Bakunin takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Bakunin is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Watanabe lands a body shot.
Bakunin scores with a jab to the body.
Bakunin stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Watanabe looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Watanabe is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Bakunin rather than just go for the knockout.
Watanabe ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Watanabe drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Bakunin is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Watanabe is controlling him.

Bakunin wants to stand and escape. He's got his foot on Watanabe's hips, looking to push off. But Watanabe grabs a hold of the leg and drops back for an ankle lock! It's hard to tell if he's got it. Both fighters look composed - OH, not anymore they don't! Bakunin screams like a kid who's trapped his fingers in the car door and taps out! Yikes, that must have hurt - hopefully it's not snapped anything!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Heel Hook). Shun Watanabe!
Shun Watanabe tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
