Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Rodrigo Akenzua!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Leati Anoai!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Viktor Lagutenko and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Akenzua moves into the clinch.

Anoai gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Anoai engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Anoai's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
It looks like Anoai might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Anoai got a little sloppy there for a moment and Akenzua has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Anoai has managed to get both his arms back between Akenzua's legs - danger averted.
Anoai is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Akenzua fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Anoai avoids it really well and circles away.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Akenzua tries to clinch but Anoai is having none of it.
Anoai is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
No luck for Akenzua with that takedown attempt.
Anoai feints the counter takedown.
Nice takedown defense from Anoai. No joy for Akenzua on that attempt.

Akenzua shoots in looking for a takedown but Anoai manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Akenzua's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

and Anoai counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Anoai engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Anoai is continuing to stall.
Let's hope that Anoai has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Akenzua wants to clinch up but Anoai keeps it at a distance.
Anoai avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Anoai wants to counter with a clinch but Akenzua pushes him away.
Akenzua throws a left and a right that both miss

and Anoai counters by clinching up.

Anoai works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Anoai seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Leati Anoai showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Akenzua has his takedown stuffed

and Anoai counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Rodrigo Akenzua seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Anoai is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Akenzua is in real trouble.
Anoai slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Rodrigo Akenzua has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well Anoai has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
