Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Broderick Brickstock!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Paul Barnes!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, William Gold and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brickstock defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Barnes.

Barnes looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Barnes is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Brickstock blocking the ground and pound attempt from Barnes.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Barnes tries to pass to full mount but Brickstock defends it.

My spies in True North Fight Team inform me that Barnes has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
It looks like Barnes might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Barnes's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Brickstock wants to control but Barnes is having none of it.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Barnes throwing strikes here but Brickstock is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Brickstock tries to lock up and control but Barnes gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Barnes throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Brickstock is squirming around, avoiding Barnes's attempts to control the action.

Barnes throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

Barnes swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Brickstock is now in Barnes's guard. A big mistake from Barnes there, giving up the dominant position!

Brickstock wanted to stand there but Barnes had control of the position.
Brickstock seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Brickstock is fighting to break Barnes's control of his arms but Barnes is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Barnes bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Brickstock's guard.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Nice takedown defense from Brickstock. No joy for Barnes on that attempt.
Brickstock throws a big counter combination but Barnes scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Barnes looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Brickstock is fending him off so far but Barnes persists. Nope, Brickstock circles away and we're back to standing.
As Barnes tries to get set, Brickstock tries to push him back and clinch up but Barnes manages to avoid the attempt.

Broderick Brickstock has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paul Barnes.

enabling Brickstock to counter with a crisp jab.
Brickstock with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Barnes to score with a decent uppercut.
Barnes is trying hard to land a takedown here. Brickstock sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Barnes shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Brickstock sprawls well. Brickstock wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Barnes gets slowly back to his feet.

Some bone on bone action there as Barnes checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Barnes is defended easily by Brickstock.

and Brickstock connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Barnes looks to land a combination. Brickstock sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.


It looks like Broderick Brickstock has been cut.
Barnes checks the leg kick nicely there.

Barnes closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Brickstock's guard.

Brickstock pushes Barnes off and gets back to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Brickstock looks to land a right hand but Barnes moved out of range.
Paul Barnes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Barnes looks for a takedown but Brickstock sprawls well.
Brickstock went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Barnes shoots and misses

Barnes is breathing heavily.
Brickstock slaps away a takedown attempt from Barnes, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Barnes moves out of range of the leg kick from Brickstock.
Barnes shoots in looking for a takedown but Brickstock manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Barnes's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Barnes scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Barnes thows a huge punch but Brickstock dodges it nicely.
Barnes has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Barnes is just content to waste time from the top position. Brickstock takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Brickstock has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Barnes is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Brickstock lands a nice hook to Barnes's body. Barnes takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Brickstock leaves Barnes with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

and Brickstock counters with a lovely straight right hand!

and Brickstock scores with a counter punch that sends Barnes to the canvas! Brickstock smells blood - he's punishing Barnes with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Barnes has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Broderick Brickstock!
A very excited looking Broderick Brickstock made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
