PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Philo Beddoe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Finkle John (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Beddoe comes to the cage accompanied by Stranglehold/ Ted Nugent. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Philo Beddoe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Finkle John!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Wesley Smith and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A good leg kick by John.
John misses the shot to the body.
Beddoe needs to keep his hands up - John had a free shot at his head there.

John gets caught napping as Beddoe dives in and scores a takedown. John manages to retain guard.
John pulls Beddoe in close to his closed guard and prevents Beddoe from doing any damage or advancing position.
Beddoe trying to control the position from guard on top but John is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Beddoe works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Beddoe is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
John keeping hold of Beddoe's head, controlling as best he can.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
John is trying to get back to full guard.

John is trying to control but can't.

Beddoe is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but John still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, John has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Beddoe trying to control the hands but John breaks the grip.
John has the hooks in. Beddoe is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
John lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Beddoe.
John scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.
John cracks Beddoe with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Beddoe from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.

John scores with punches and elbows.
John is hanging on to Beddoe's back as he tries to escape.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Beddoe is covering up but some of the strikes from John are getting through and doing damage.
A lull in the action here.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
John is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
John gets his hands free as Beddoe looks to control.
Beddoe takes a big shot to the side of the head.
Beddoe tries to roll but John sticks to his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Beddoe trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
Beddoe grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.
Beddoe can't escape the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
John has good solid back control here.
Beddoe rolls, trying to escape but John keeps control of the position.

Beddoe is keeping busy.
John punishes Beddoe with strikes from the back mount.
John is hanging on to Beddoe's back as he tries to escape.
John punches Beddoe on the ear.
Will John go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Beddoe trying to control the hands but John breaks the grip.

Beddoe holding both John 's hands and preventing any damage.
Beddoe is trying to break free.

Beddoe breaks John's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Beddoe might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
John has Beddoe pulled in close to control his posture.
Beddoe trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Beddoe throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as John works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
John tries to land a sweep but no joy.
John is trying to hold Beddoe in close to prevent damage but Beddoe has managed to pass into half guard.

Beddoe has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can John defend it? Beddoe steps over the head and cranks it - John is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Beddoe!
